I have a list, in the McCarthyite sense, except it doesn't concern the communist foes of America. It's more about the linguistic crimes of word villains. I feel that something like EverRoast doesn't happen at random, can't happen at random. It's an act of conscious aggression that wobbles atop a Jengan framework of tributary evils. I had no choice but to act.
In the way there are Black Hats and White Hats in the security space, I fancy myself a White Hat in the sense that I revere a kind of sanctity in language and that reverence stands in place of an aesthetic. I wouldn't even make the case that I'm a writer; it's just what I put in the field if someone asks. It's easier than saying what I actually am, which is best expressed as what I actually do, which functionally a kind of worship. I think there are configurations of words that have power. I think they can be arranged in such a way as to modify the operation of the mind. I'm not even saying I succeed at this. I'm saying that seeking these configurations is the only thing I know how to do.
You know what's terrible, genuinely terrible, to the point of shame? I honestly believe everything I just told you. I don't think it's "writing" as it's generally understood. I think I have a psychological condition of some kind and the exhaust of that condition is a kind of curated Markov chain.
Hey! I thought the last episode of Acquisitions Incorporated: The "C" Team had some cool stuff in it, the sort of thing you would make time in your week for, and I wanted to round up all the ways you can get at this shit if you want to. Obviously, the live show from our studio - produced by HyperRPG - hits at 3:30 PDT every Thursday, followed by some Table Talk right after. You can always grab the show right after from our Twitch Video Archive. Then, on Saturdays, you can watch the show on YubTub or feast on a savory Podcast via iTunes or the RSS. I think about the show all the time, which makes sense, I have to consciously maintain it - but I haven't been able to stop thinking about the characters for the past week, which represents a mental shift I thought was worth noting.
(CW)TB out.
