When I got back into the game of No Man's Sky I was playing with Mulk, I thought it was very novel at first that there was an frozen-ass hell planet called Teeko. How novel, I thought. That's sort of like my handle! Everything else progressed precisely as it did in today's tender strip.
I got back into it because of the No Man's Sky NEXT update, because it allowed me to do what I'd wanted to do originally, which was to have another person there. Not terribly long after Mike started playing the game with his boys instead, and… I kept playing alone, even though the catalyst was gone, because I was really enjoying it. I think that the game originally was very good for a particular type of player, and now I think that over the course of the updates they've widened the circle of who can enjoy it.
Every time it comes up, the game I mean, it tends to rankle someone. I'm not unsympathetic to people who truly feel misled by the game, or the marketing, or the game the coverage invented in an absolute vacuum. I don't have the right to determine the length of time a person should be mad. For my part, I think of it like an investment I made now. I spent thirty bucks a couple years ago, and now I'm getting fucking paid. You may find the same thing has occurred; you may find that the circle had widened to include you as well.
Grimp and I are gonna play some No Man's Sky this afternoon, in fact! We're gonna start our stream at 1:30pm PDT and go to 3:30 or so, if you'd like to see more of what Hello Games is getting at with the update. Of course, it should be announced that this is a massive game and we only know a little, so don't come looking for pro strats. Come looking for that First Contact shit, and the excitement that accompanies it, because that's what we got.
(CW)TB out.
