I don't know. Maybe we'll do a couple more of these. If it's gonna be this much fun I can't see any reason why not.
We're gonna start messing around with some Battletech streaming soon; Eric wants to do something we've discussed a lot offline, which is to try and make a hybrid RPG/Wargame type experience we can run as a stream. There's a couple applications of this we'd like to try, at a couple thresholds of sophistication, and this version is essentially a Wargame With Perhaps Too Much Thought Having Gone Into The Backstories Plus An Ongoing, Resource-Tracked Mercenaries Campaign.
I played Battletech at lunch in high school, and it can get fairly perverse mechanically, but there's a lot of love out there for Catalyst's Alpha Strike rules and their weirdly cheap Alpha Strike boxed set which - with its thirteen fucking mechs - might be one of the most dense battlebox values of all time. I successfully avoided purchasing the game last PAX West, but not out of some surplus of self control or personal rigor - they had simply sold out of it before I got there. In any case, Eric has identified a couple mid-range bipedal war machines for us to start our adventure. I'm gonna start painting a couple of these in the afternoon crafting portion of tomorrow's stream, feel free to stop by - our brewing program Acquisitions Intoxicated begins at 12PST, after which things become progressively more dorky.
Alright, now I gotta go have a stranger scrape my teeth for an hour. And then I have to go to the dentist! Oh boy, woohoo, etc.
(CW)TB out.
