At hashtag PAX West, since it starts on Thursday, Monday rolls around and the show is over. It's a new week. Because PAX West (though I suspect we know its true name) extends, yea, into the Monday after, it creates a very peculiar annual moment where I rise unsteadily on the last day of the show, my mind whipping and writhing like a wavy tube man. It is that precise moment that I greet you here.
Hello! Please exit through the gift shop, by which I mean the PAX show store, which is open until the 8th.
Having Meghan Morkle with me at the show again has been fucking kick-ass. We had a chance to consecrate the new venue with our ancient and sacred traditions, plus a few new ones; Acquisitions Incorporated with its battle rap, King of the Dot horseshit caboose was a delight, and primes the pump for two and a half months of weekly, expertly produced, movie length AcqInc content thanks to our Kickstarter. It also saw the return of our Vampire: The Masquerade Chronicle Seattle By Night, the very next day - which was a highlight of the show for me. As I said on Friday, Jason Carl is a true master, tugging the strings of a system whose purpose is to render a holographically complex social environment. Of course, Mike has discovered a way to remain oblique to it.
I have met a lot of people at the show who have said a lot of nice things to me. This isn't a flex! At least, not in the traditional sense. Maybe it's some kind of sophisticated "metaflex" I'm not consciously executing. But I've been at this quite a long time, long enough for the spaces I thought I was in to become utterly unrecognizable. Possibly as a function of entropy and advanced age to be sure, but also due to corporate terraforming of the Internet and mainstream incursion. I hail from an era where people were afraid to put their credit cards "in the computer," where even connecting to the Internet tested your mettle with an aggressive squawk. I do these things because I have a compulsion to do so, and I'm glad you like it, because it gives me an incredible excuse to continue.
(CW)TB out.
