I made a huge PAX 06 post a few weeks ago when we opened up pre-registration. If you want to know why PAX is “like totally the coolest thing like evar” then you should give my old post a read. With the actual event still months away we’ve already got well over 700 people registered. Last year I think the final count was around 9000 attendees. I wouldn’t be surprised if we beat that this year.
We’ve worked out some deals with the Red Lion as well as the Doubletree. Both hotels are within walking distance of the convention center.
The Red Lion
($85/night for “2 people”), (425) 455-5240
Will have continuous shuttle access to Meydenbauer during all normal hours of PAX 2006
Will have all tabletop gaming, 24 hrs/day. This is where the official PAX tabletop gaming will happen as well as the official PAX party on Saturday.
Will have continuous shuttle access to Meydenbauer during all normal hours of PAX 2006
Slightly closer to Meydenbauer Center
When making the reservation, say it’s for the “Penny Arcade Expo.” This is for phone orders only!
Free Parking
11211 Main St, Bellevue, WA 98004
The Doubletree
($85/night for “2 people”), (425) 455-1300
Please note that although it is currently called the Doubletree, by the time PAX rolls around, it will have been renamed the Bellevue Hilton.
Will have continuous shuttle access to Meydenbauer during all normal hours of PAX 2006
When making the reservation, use code: PAX
Free Parking
300 112th Ave Se, Bellevue, WA 98004
I won’t lie to you guys. There is a brand new hotel called the Bellevue Marriott that just opened up. Now it’s closer than the other two hotels but they refused to work with us. We explained that we would completely fill their entire hotel and they still refused to give you guys any kind of a deal. So fuck them. They are more expensive than the Red Lion and the Doubletree and with shuttles leaving every five minutes the distance just isn’t an issue.
I have an early list of confirmed special gusts as well. If you don’t know one of the names on the list I highly recommend you spend some time at their sites. If you’ve been to PAX before then you’re probably already fans of these guys.
These are what you might call our returning champs. We’re adding a new act to the already killer line up this year. DJ extraordinaire Mike Relm will be performing at PAX 06. If you aren't familiar with his stuff you really should check it out. You can get some awesome tracks and videos from his site. I personally recommend his “Peanuts, Live” movie. He does a very geek friendly show and I think he'll be a great addition to PAX.
