So I am home sick today and that’s why the strip looks a little strange. I was trying to figure out a way to draw the comic from home what with all my stuff being at the office. I remembered that I had downloaded the Sketchbook Pro app on my iPad. So today’s comic was drawn entirely with my pointer finger. Kiko was kind enough to drop my finger paintings into the panels and add the text for me. I’m hoping that another day of rest and playing Birth By Sleep will make me feel better.
I picked up a Sony Move setup last weekend from Amazon along with a copy of Eyepet. We’ve been playing with it for a few days now and I have to say it’s much better than I expected. I think that if you have kids in the house you’ll have a lot of fun with the Move. As far as the current games go they really seem to be focused on family fun rather than a hardcore gaming experience.
The Eyepet is the real stand out hit for me. It doesn’t work all the time but when it does it’s really magical. It’s crazy how quickly you forget that this little guy isn’t real. One of our cats ran past the camera at one point and the Eyepet jumped out of the way and then chased it. Little moments like this make the Eyepet experience something pretty special.
I’m not sure how the Move will work for more serious games. It’s great at tracking but It doesn’t feel like a very good pointing device so I can’t imagine playing a game like Killzone with it. I’m pleasantly surprised with what they have delivered so far though.
My Monday D&D game was played at home this week since I just got my new Emissary table from Geek Chic. Gabe had to go to bed around 8:00 but begged me to let him stay up at watch us play. I’ve “played” D&D with him before but this was a real game with grownups and he could tell it was something different. I don’t blame him for wanting to stay up and watch but he had school in the morning and I knew the language was not going to be six year old appropriate. I explained that this was daddies game and maybe some day when he’s older he can play in it.
Later that night Kara brought down a note that he had written. It was done in crayon on a little piece of sketch paper:
WEN I AM 7 CAN I PLA DUNJNS AND DRAGINS
Awesome.
