Hey, I thought you would think these were really cool. Filming just got underway, but right before that Dabe did some cool promo shots for you to savor. Check it out!
Introducing as Verna: Jen Taylor
Jen Taylor is pleased that you are reading her bio. Jen works extensively as a voice actor in radio, television, audiobooks, and numerous video games including the HALO series as Cortana and Dr. Halsey. She also voices the personal assistant of the same name on Windows phones and PCs. Jen co-starred in LEVERAGE (TNT), has filmed a handful of short films for various Seattle film festivals, and is currently working on an as yet un-announced web series. Jen is a founding member of New Century Theatre Company and has performed in most of the theatres in Seattle, several more along the West Coast, and in Sydney, Australia. Among the many roles she has played are Elizabeth Bennet in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, Viola in 12TH NIGHT, Beatrice in MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, Eliza Doolittle in PYGMALION, Lily Bart in THE HOUSE OF MIRTH, and Roxane in CYRANO. And as much as she likes you…she is not going to record your voice mail message.
Starring as Sam Regal: Basil Harris
Basil Harris is a stage and screen actor currently based in Seattle. He is also a musician, comedian, and writer; also based in Seattle. Additionally, he’s a husband and father of two – again, Seattle-based. In fact, a lot of what he does happens to occur in and around the Seattle area, though he often likes to travel for work. Recently, he terrorized unsuspecting children as the Sheriff of Nottingham in Seattle Children’s Theatre’s production of Robin Hood at the New Victory theatre in NYC, which the New York Times really seemed to enjoy. On-screen credits include “Grimm” (NBC) and “Leverage” (TNT), as well as the feature films Safety Not Guaranteed, directed by Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World) and starring Mark Duplass and Aubrey Plaza; My Effortless Brilliance, for which he shares a writing credit with co-star Sean Nelson and director Lynn Shelton; and Knights of Badassdom, directed by Joe Lynch and starring Summer Glau, Steve Zahn, Peter Dinklage and Ryan Kwanten. Basil will be appearing in the upcoming serial adventure, “Rocketmen”, launching in early 2016.
Bringing Carl to life: Dylan Smith
Dylan Smith is an actor/nerd from Carnation, Washington. He is mostly a product of the Seattle theater scene with a hodgepodge of local acting and theater education. He has had the privilege of appearing in a range of parts in Seattle-area short films, feature films, commercials, and plays in the better part of the last decade. Theater companies he's had the privilege of working with include Cafe Nordo, Seattle Shakespeare Company, Sound Theater Company, and Seattle Immersive Theater. If you squint, you might be able to spot him as an extra in "21 and over" and he also has a scene in Lynn Shelton's "Laggies" with Chloe Grace Moretz and Keira Knightley. He would love to thank everyone involved in "Automata", from the film crew to the comic book creators, for making such a rich and compelling world for him to hang his nerd-geek hat.
