The most recent season of Destiny has pulled me back in after months away. I really like the public events and the new exotic Witherhoard is an absolute blast. No matter what I intend to do when I get back into Destiny, I always end up spending the vast majority of my time playing Crucible. As it stands, I’m up until midnight most nights in the capture and hold playlist. The ability for the Witherhoard to lock out zones with it’s AOE really makes this mode fresh. I have to admit that I do not understand the Drifter’s new engram system at all. I guess I’m collecting twisted energy and altered elemental trace overrides so that I can level up my umbral decoder, the efficacy of which is directly determined by the overall level of my prismatic recaster. Or something like that.
When I’m not doing that, I’m racing. I’ve got my C class licence now in iRacing and that means I’ve got access to a bunch of new races. Jerry and I learned the hard way that they stop fucking around in C class. You can watch our first attempt at one of these races right here. Spoiler warning: we don’t know any of the goddamned rules.
Obviously that’s not what you want and this race actually resulted in me getting my first angry iRacing private message.
“LEARN TO FUCKING DRIVE!”
I mean, They are not wrong.
I took this anonymous driver’s harsh but fair advice and practiced hard. We tried the same race again last night and I’m happy to say that the results were significantly better.
As you can see, I’ve added a heart rate monitor that lets you see my pulse while I race. I felt like last night’s race was the most stressful one yet and so I went back to look at the VOD. Sure enough my heart rate jumps up to 110 during some of those laps. The feeling of going 210 mph around a banked turn with cars on all sides just inches away from you, is like nothing else I’ve played in a game.
I also can’t really watch the chat during the race so going back to the VOD let’s me see all the great advice and support I’m getting from the Pit Crew. I just want to say thanks for joining me on this sim racing journey. I really look forward to these streams and the community. Thanks for being so awesome.
