I came out here to Philadelphia with the whole family this time, an excursion we haven't undertaken since the first PAX Aus, and this kind of thing is way easier when your child's vocabulary consists of more breadth and richness than just penguin sounds. They can tell you directly, with only the occasional chirp or trill, that they'd rather be at home.
PAX Unplugged felt more or less like PAX Unplugged, frankly. I legitimately think I missed an entire column of the showfloor because I was busy doing panels or getting obsessed with shit at some other coordinate on the grid. I was walking around with Brenna on Saturday, and she tried to buy me a game called Cloudspire while I was freaking out looking at the demo copies of it in the booth, but the box was literally too heavy for her to carry around so she had to reveal the gift early. I didn't mind.
I'll have better links for the AI games this weekend soon, once Josh gets 'em set up on the YubTub, but there is still some emotional processing taking place. I'll go into it then - but I think I've formulated links which will allow you to skip directly to the games in the massive, day-long omnibus streams here's the AcqInc Main Stage game run by Jeremy, and here's the AcqInc "C" Team Epilogue, run by me. They're pretty good. And thanks so much to Aabria Iyengar, the inimitable Quiddie whose star is rising, for taking a brief detour from that incredible arc to open up the show with her energy, candor, and humanity. If the show went well, it was because she blessed the whole affair at the outset.
I think there was a case to make for Godfall before, even when it occupied the heady realms of Buy To Own, as a co-op brawler whose combat system you build yourself. But if it's free, if any part of it is free, it's definitely worth checking out that part.
(CW)TB out.
