I can't stress this enough - Gabriel is a feral, protohuman wretch who routinely gnaws on human bones. I've tried to disabuse him of this behavior, suggesting that it's ghoulish not only figuratively but literally, but he says that all this bone stuff is just "his thing." That said, regardless of his unique diet or hulking, bestial frame, his allegiance cannot be bought - though many have tried. I on the other hand am utterly for sale. Consider me his inverse: I'm ready to engage in the sort of thing you meticulously scrub from your browser history. Liking a trailer for you is so mundane it doesn't even appear on the price sheet.
The price list for trailers came out for the Opening Night Live show, just as they had previously for the Summer Game Fest. There was a sideline story about a few Indies noting the price and then posting trailers on Twitter, which nourished the spirit. I'm there mostly for the trailers, and the occasional nervous dev, and anything else is sort of distracting or unwelcome. Am I wrong?
We have two sponsored streams, one today and one tomorrow, with our IRL friends at Greater Than Games. I remember when they were setting up their booth a million years ago, going literally wild with their co-op Sentinels of the Multiverse shit, though I think these days they might even be referred to casually as The Spirit Island People. They've been playtesting a game at PAX for the last couple years called Compile. A 1v1 card battler where rogue artificial intelligences war to define reality itself, the hook is strong but the format - something like a "lane based" battle over points - manifests as something completely unique. I have literally run demos of the game at their booth for free. They'll be in the studio today from 3pm to 5pm PT, and I can't wait to introduce you to it. Also… the playmat is pretty nice. Just sayin'.
Tomorrow's excursion, which we will try desperately to fit into the hours between 3pm and 5pm, is for Defenders of the Realm, which we had a chance to play an earlier version of. I thought it was ready to go then, but Christopher Badell et all and the rest of them don't really like to drop something unless (as we've seen before) there's a whole narrative arc and opportunities to grow the gameplay. Well, I'll pick their brains on all that stuff tomorrow, same times as today. Thanks for stopping by, fellas.
(CW)TB out.
