It can't be said enough, apparently since repetition of the sentiment occasionally breaks through - even with Gorbiriel. Andor is an incredibly unlikely Star Wars show, derived more firmly from espionage thrillers, which makes sense I guess since it's from the dude who made the Bourne movies. It's Make A Star Wars Show Challenge: Impossible, because it's almost purely about character motivations and not about space dogfights or wizards, the things we would ordinarily consider Star Wars.
It turns out that in the right hands, even the political substrate of that setting has real teeth. It doesn't hurt that the casting and performances are so good that it wasn't until writing this post that I was like, oh, right. Those people aren't real. They've been filed as real people. How did they accomplish this? Disney's stewardship of the source material has been unreliable at best. Who made this happen? Or who, perhaps, just got out of the way?
Usually I would go over to Dabe's and play Murvel Smurp, but I'm gonna stay home in case Brenna needs me because of something called a Sacroiliac Joint and how sometimes things don't line up. When they don't line up, it's sort of the same as not having a body you can do things with. She's been in better spirits since she found Warrior Nun, but still. As soon as I get the strip written I'm gonna turn the ol' stream on and have Dabe call in from home. We'll see how far we can climb with our slightly modified move deck, "Moving Co." It'll be on Twitnatch as soon after ten as I can get there.
(CW)TB out.
