I’m not dead. Kara and I are pretty much all moved in now. We still have a lot of stuff in boxes but the important stuff like the video games and the computers are all set up and running. I understand I haven’t posted in a while and I do apologize for that. Here is what I have been up to.
I’m playing a lot of KOTOR and I’m really enjoying it. I had to play it for about nine hours before I was able to understand how the combat worked. I never played any of the D&D games these combat rules are based on, so for me the idea of saving rolls and shit like that is just totally foreign. I’ve got it now though and I’m having a real good time as is pretty much everyone else I think. While we were over at FASA looking at Crimson Skies (Which I think has some of the best multiplayer on the Xbox) the guy playing would occasionally shoot a friendly vehicle by accident, and as soon as he did everyone else in the room would say “dark side points!” The Xbox really needed another must have title and KOTOR is it.
I am playing some Mario Golf but Tycho has pretty much said everything there is to say about that. It’s great, you should go and get it and then get like three other friends to come play it with you. You will not be disappointed.
I have been dreaming about SNK vs Capcom Chaos and Samurai Shodown 0. I finally got my Neo Geo machine fixed just before I moved. A nice guy who fixes TV’s came out and brought my baby back to life. I assumed that this meant I would now be able to purchase a copy of Chaos but I found out something very interesting. Chaos is not a standard MVS cartridge. It is a whole new Jamma PCB. My guess is that they did this to increase the number of cabinets the game could be dropped in to. Rather than having to own a NEO cab an arcade operator could slide this board into any standard Jamma cab he has sitting around. The problem with this is that the game now costs $1800. For someone who owns an arcade this is fine, they will probably make that back in no time. I suppose I could start charging Tycho to play but even then it would take me quite a while to pay off an investment like that. Normally an MVS version of a NEO GEO game costs less than the home version as there are generally a lot more MVS copies of a title produced. This new twist means that I will have to wait until October when the home version comes out in order to play Chaos as there isn’t a single arcade in this area that I can imagine investing in a game like this.
I’ll be back to my regular schedule of updating now. I’m not sure that is a good thing.
