This is exactly how I play these games, in general. I'm not, you know, proud of it, that's just the pattern. But Horizon might break me out of it, just because it doesn't have the same segmented arc at all. It's not race/menu/race/menu. It's an open world game where your body is a car, and what they've got me doing in there is far, far more varied than I was expecting. I also wasn't aware of developer Playground Games' pedigree - take a look at the Wikipedia page, which is essentially a spreadsheet of every racing game developer you've ever loved. I learned that from somebody in the channel of the stream we did, actually. We played some on "the Twitch," which gave me a chance to see how much farther along in this CarPG continuum Gabriel was than myself.
If you're curious about the game but missed the stream, never fear; on the Internet, all things are possible. Many things, certainly. Some things. Maybe "possible" is too strong. Things do happen on the Internet: I think we can all agree on that much. In any case, I can definitely link to an archived stream, and if you click it your browser will go there.
That will have to be enough.
Oh! And there's a just a few more days on Lone Shark's Thornwatch Kickstarter, which started to pick up near the tend like they always sorta do. Another reason for the uptick might be that anybody who backed at the Summon the Thornwatch level or higher can add five bucks to their pledge for shipping and get the Dark of the Wood expansion for free. Like I have said repeatedly, there's a lot about this setting that only I know, and the main draw for me creatively here is that making games gives me a chance (as it did in the Precipice Chapters) to really stake these universes out. Dark of the Wood answers questions like: Are these the only Thornwatch? Why might people be afraid of them? Does the Ebb have an effect on the Thornwatch? I always knew, but I never told anybody, and I'm jumping in with both feet.
(CW)TB out.
