I sort of get what he means; if I'm going to play videogames, I might as well play videogames. You know?
But I like to start a pot of coffee before I take a shower, because for a limited time it feels like I am accomplishing two tasks simultaneously. My friend Eric has one of those Japanese Cold Brew Drip Tower things, and I bet he feels productive as hell while that thing over there working. I don't expect these games to offer moment to moment engagement, but I think there's every chance it would make our idiotic monkey brain feel like we were engaged in a high utility endeavor while we did something else..
Realtime, PvP Auto Battlers - so recently ascended - those I can do. Even if I'm not actively manipulating units, that's not where the "game" is situated. But I can't just grind PvE shit like that anymore, even if I'm not actively participating. I've talked about this before - that reward pathway is completely fucked. I can't be snookered into this type of thing because I feel nothing when the swords go Cling! Clang!, nothing at all. Well, resentment.
(CW)TB out.
