My family continues to be sequestered in the upstairs portion of our house. We can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel though. The gaping holes in our walls have been patched and new paint is going up. I think this weekend we will be able to start moving our stuff from the garage back into the house and resume something like normal life. In the meantime I’ve been playing a lot of video games!
My main obsession continues to be Diablo 4. Much like the comic suggested, I have characters of all different levels but my main character is a Rogue that just hit 40. The game is beautiful, it looks like an oil painting you can run through. It’s also incredibly hard to stop playing. I keep wanting to knock out one more side quest or see what’s around one more corner before I log off. I’m currently spending most of my time on PS5 but I’ve played on PC as well and I’m super impressed with the way it syncs your save data and characters across platforms!
I’m also spending a bunch of time playing Farlight 84 with Kara, Noah and Jerry. I had sworn off Battle Royale games but this one has its hooks in me. There is no question that Farlight is a sort of Gumbo that combines a bunch of pieces from other popular games. It’s got a heavy dose of Apex Legends, some Titanfall, a bit of Overwatch mixed with Fortnite. The thing is it takes all that stuff and makes something that is incredibly fun to play. The gunplay is some of the best I’ve seen and along with the transforming vehicles really makes Farlight stand out.
I also found time to beat the Final Fantasy 16 demo and I was super disappointed when the “thanks for playing” message popped up. Not only was the combat incredibly fun, but this story had me super interested! Generally I’m the guy skipping through cut scenes and dialog especially in an FF game but I was watching this like it was an HBO series. The Game of Thrones vibes are strong and I personally love it. The demo lets you play the first two hours of the game and will allow you to transfer your save over. After doing that you can play a little section that places you a few hours into the game with some more powers so you can see where the combat goes. After playing all that, it was an immediate purchase for me. Can’t wait for this one to come out!
