Hey! I've got incredible news: you've still got time to shotgun the first season of Seattle By Night in preparation for Sunday's Vampire: The Masquerade game, which picks up immediately thereafter. It's one of the coolest stories I've ever been part of, and unless you're familiar with other Vampire streams I can guarantee you've never seen somebody run a table like Jason Carl. This is what mastery looks like. His meticulously curated filth commingled with the dark energy of the world, its system, and its legacy . These days, D&D is sort of the default - but this creature, and its wicked ways, are from a much more primordial era where the future hadn't been decided yet. Let's hang out there, this Sunday at 11:30am PST on Main Stage - which you can watch from anywhere at twitch.tv/pax.
Gabriel's character, the Toreador Tom Hollandaise, is loosely based on a real tattoo artist back in Spokane - someone I think he would identify as a mentor, and he's not likely to deploy a term like that loosely. I played D&D with Tom once, as he was friends with another friend of mine. While we were playing, he was drawing a cloaked rakshasa with a ballpoint pen. It was just dots - no lines. Understand that this was thirty years ago, and I can still see the piece in my mind. It would not surprise me if it crawled off the fucking paper. Which… I don't know how much you know about rakshasa. That would be pretty bad.
My own character, Jamison Keen, is an immaculately dressed, perpetually optimistic social striver encased in a hideous, leathery, old Hollywood-lookin' bloodsucker. Nobody escapes character generation without leaving a significant portion of their psychological meat behind in the machine, and I'm horrified to consider what I might have left in this time. Gabriel did briefly consider cosplay for this one, but only inside his mouth .
Anyway, time to hit the show - if you're playing the Home Game this year, be sure to hit up the online version of the Show Store to check out the collections.
(CW)TB out.
