Morak isn't big on Metroidvanias, but Prince of Persia is core to his identity as a man and as a father. Well, that may be too dramatic. Let's say that it is a kind of videogame he likes; that may be sufficient. He wants to play through a game and he doesn't necessarily want to replay parts of a game over and over, which is why most roguelites bounced off him until the pure, uncut fucking heroin of Vampire Surviors. I told him about it when it came out, but he couldn't see it. He sees it now. I like this genre, so I'll probably grab it today. Metroid Dread kicks ass too, if you like this kind of stuff. But Mike also sorta likes Prince of Persia. Like, Prince of Persia Prince of Persia. Y'know?
Hey, so, I finished the first draft of the Acquisitions Incorporated book that was Kickstarted along with Series 2. You watched Series 2, right?! The underlined text right before this sentence is interactive, deeply clickable, and leads to fully twelve episodes - with a live intro and finale.
Mojang - this is the Mojang from a super long time ago, pre-acquisition - asked me to write a story for a game that combines hex-based strategy and cards. Long time readers will know already, but newcomers should understand that I agreed to write fiction to introduce the game in approximately three and a half seconds. Scrolls went down eventually, and they never asked me for any more text, but of course I have lots of that. It was eventually released for free and under a different name, because Bethesda even at the beginning was trying to make the case that people were going to confuse The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, a game where the mass transit system consists of huge bugs that you ride between skyscraper fungi, with a turn-based card game written in Java from the creators of Minecraft. So, you know, Caller's Bane it is.
I had a lot of fun writing it, it has some neat pieces in it, and I'd never really written anything like that before. I was honored that they even let me. But if you would like to read about a young goblin and her family problems, by all means.
So now, we'll move into the editing phase, I'll polish up some of the framing and install burnished, antique hardware on the cupboards - really make this house a home. While that's getting spun up, I have Lexcalibur III and another thing in the window - I'm gonna finish this Eyrewood book next. I put up the first chapter a long time ago and I was shocked to learn that not only do I still like it, but apparently I made a whole outline and named everybody already. Thanks, past self! I'll take it from here.
(CW)TB out.
