I managed to take a short break from sticker making to check out a couple demos that just hit the PS5. You can play the new Prince of Persia:The Lost Crown as well as Granblue fantasy:relink right now. I played a bit of both and came away excited for each of their full releases.
I was a big fan of the previous Prince of Persia games. I have yet to see another game that combines unique traversal, combat and puzzle solving as well as games like Sands of Time Did. They were essentially their own genre but the new one scraps all that to be a Metroidvania. I played a bit of the demo and at least it seems like a very good one. I tend not to stick with this style of game very long becasue I suck at them but I’ll give the full version a try.
I don’t have much knowledge about the Granblue series. I’ve checked out the fighting game in the past because I like the art but never got very deep into it. There is a demo out for the new Granblue Fantasy:Relink and I’m really enjoying it. It’s a hack and slash JRPG that reminds me a bit of Tales of Arise in a good way. Gorgeous anime inspired art and really solid combat so far.
My grand sticker plans continue to move forward. You’ll be able to order the stickers I’ve been making in the Penny Arcade store soon. These will be professionally printed from my designs and anyone can order them. There will also be something for… let's say, the hardcore.
I’m working on getting a subsection of the store devoted to my homemade sticker offerings called Gabe’s Sticker Shoppe. Because the runs will be so limited (around 100 stickers per design to start) these stickers will only be available to members of club PA. My goal is to offer a couple of new sticker designs each month this year to feature in both stores. Beyond being literally hand made by Kara and I, the ones we make here at home will also feature unique finishes and design elements to make them real collectors items. It will be sort of like having an Etsy shop inside the Penny Arcade store.
My hope is that by the time PAX East rolls around, folks have some stickers to share and trade at the show. I’ll be sending lots of stickers to the show for PA folks to hand out as well. One of my favorite things to see at PAX is the Pin trading community doing its thing. It’s taken a decade to grow Pinny Arcade into what it has become but it started the same way. I got way into pins after a trip to Disneyland and wanted to make my own. It’s easy for me to imagine people bringing sticker books to PAX and filling them with video game characters and designs. Who knows!
