You might have read what we did, which is that Jeffrey Lin, of Fast And/Or Furious fame, is floating around as the director for the next Spider-Man movie. As one of the few manifestations of Marvel-type shit that actually still works - I have what I believe are an "earned" set of expectations for Deadpool & Wolverine - it's one of a very small number of movies that I would prioritize seeing in a theater. I don't know if that is still completely fucked up as an industry; the only movies I followed closely were movies in this particular genre, and they weren't performing for reasons that weren't entirely to do with the plague. I only know that my own behavior around it has changed, and it's entirely possible that Gabe isn't really going back at all. If there's something that makes us wanna, it's probably worth noting when it happens.
We have crafted… well, Gabe has crafted a comic on the theme. Like many fathers, my contributions lie very near the beginning of the process. I haven't seen any of these car movies, but I have seen Star Trek Beyond, which I don't think is a Star Trek movie but is a music video. And that's okay - Jon Watts, who directed these last three really good Spider-Man movies, mostly did music videos before. The thing that separates all the modern Spider-Man shit - and that includes the incredible animated ones, with Miles - is how much heart they have. That, and the core cast all knows what movie it is and who they are in it. So, I think it's going to be good because I don't think it can not be good. And it kinda has to be. Madame fuckin' Werb ain't bringin' it in.
If you are lamenting something you missed at PAX Show Store, or someone has returned to you positively gleaming with unbelievable new gear in their chest slot from the con, our shop remains open for a couple more days. Some items are on back order, but there's a few items - like Dabe's visual history "20 Years Of PAX" - you can find ready to go, even though it sold out at the show. Check the store for your last bite at some of these in the PAX East colorway. Also: I learned the word "colorway."
(CW)TB out.
