Gabe has been experiencing the Hostile Gospel of on the job training in counterterrorism, and I've been trying to draft on his accumulated wisdom. In the manner of a pearl, there is a nettling grit that forms the center of it - and that is "getting your fucking ass kicked over and over." Inside all its Bond-tier gadgetry is a lethal, mean as hell shooter. So, it's difficult, but it also means that any round might be your round.
He's shockingly good so far - he's always been good at R6 shit, especially in the middle range of interdiction that's quite common in the game. He said that I was doing well, purely from a stats perspective, but even good rounds of Rainbow 6 are horrifying for me. I mean that in a good way - it's like playing Gears. Gears is very scary because, among other reasons, someone can chainsaw your butthole. R6 is scary because you can literally get shot through walls. That's why I reinforce them! It's an effort to safeguard my most tender regions. But sometimes I reinforce the wrong wall and get in trouble with the fucking HOA or some shit. Which ones are the wrong ones? What I've learned so far is that whatever wall I'm reinforcing is not the correct wall. That's been the takeaway thus far. We played in a five stack with the boys, Gabe, Kara, and myself and didn't get annihilated so maybe I'm in the middle of a heroic arc. It was also a pleasure to reveal to the boys that their Mother's handle - Yuna - is only her most recent one. Before that it was (CW)Orbital Strike, on account of her precision rocket delivery in what was called "MOHAA" but that name might not parse anymore.
Don't forget! PAX West may be in the books, but its really cool, twenty-year mashup designs remain for you on our PAX Shop - now available worldwide. I am, of course, partial to Dabe's "20 Years of PAX" photobook, but the full range is a love letter to the show we've all contributed something special to over the years.
(CW)TB out.
