I had an absolutely amazing time at PAX West this year. Now that the show is over though, I have entered recovery mode where I replenish my batteries by being alone and playing video games. Before I get back to Star Wars Outlaws though I want to share some of my favorite things from this year's show.
Laura From Work planned an incredible PAX celebration panel that had us dishing out one of a kind merch to folks in the audience who were all wearing paper party hats!
I have to say Jerry and I were not prepared for the slideshow at the end. Laura reached out to our wives and got family photos and old pictures of the first apartment Jerry and I shared together. I believe the goal was to make us cry on stage and the baby pictures of our kids got me to do just that. It was such a special moment to have our families celebrated like that on stage that I cannot thank her enough. You can watch the entire thing right here:
I always stress about the Acquisitions Inc. live game right up until I’m actually on stage.
(Awesome pics by Dabe!)
I’m an absolute mess for the entire day but once I’m sitting at the table that all goes away and I’m just playing D&D with my friends. Maybe someday I’ll remember that and not let myself get all worked up but I doubt it. The game was amazing as usual and I feel so lucky that I get to play at a table with such incredible players and cool people. You can watch the entire game right here:
Our Make a Strip panel is normally 90 minutes but this year it was scheduled for only 60. That means I had to haul fucking ass to get the comic strip finished. Somehow during the hour long panel while I drew and Jerry answered questions we also managed to raise TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS for Child’s Play! Thank you so much to everyone who donated. We reached our 5k goal before I was even done sketching out the first panel and then you just kept blowing each new goal out of the water. Even after decades, the generosity of our audience never ceases to amaze me! You can watch this panel right here:
You also have to check out this kick ass Jim Darkmagic puppet!
Oh, and for those who are interested I will be opening up commissions for September this Friday in the morning. I really like doing these and so I’ll be making another four slots available.
I didn’t pre-order Star Wars Outlaws and that seems to have been a pretty smart move on my part. I did grab it once I got home from PAX though and after playing a few hours I’m really enjoying it. I have to draw a comic strip for tomorrow but as soon as that’s done my plan is to get back on the couch and keep playing. I’m so fried from the show that a nice relaxing open world Ubisfot adventure is just what the doctor ordered.
