My flight ended up being delayed, so in a strange and auspicious turn I happened to be ready to write the strip at the exact same time we typically do. Biddy Blas is constantly being tooled by others in the racing camp, hazed to within an inch of his life, and he certainly deserves a win. Does this constitute a win? I mean, maybe.
Good Star Wars is becoming more common, as a statistical matter - there was a prolonged rough patch. It shares this with Trek, where they will sometimes start out on the right foot and then fuck it up in subsequent episodes even though evidence of what would work is right there in the previous season. Neither one can resist making good shows nurse logs for whatever other aspirations they have. Yet people still like Star Wars for a variety of reasons, not all of them earned. One of the things Disney purchased was the cultural inertia of the brand.
The idea that people are still carrying water for The Last Jedi at this late hour - I see them on socials, furiously winding up buckets - is part of an ongoing process by adherents of a religious sect to see if magic is real. It is not real, but it is very possible to look dumb while "casting spells." That discourse was curdled from the jump, similar to the Veilguard discourse, except Veilguard fans eventually managed to look in the mirror. It's simply too late now for the proponents of this fruitless, onodan everwar. What should happen or what I really mean are merely attempts to locate the conversation in what they perceive to be a position of strength. We need not engage with that in any way. Imagine that Disney had a button they could press every couple years and two billion dollars would come out. It stopped working after that. The End. Fuckin'... the end.
Andor, Shadow Lord, and Visions are the new torchbearers for quality in the setting - but Star Wars Jedi, Zero Company, and Galactic Racer all tell great stories you get to be part of. Star Wars Outlaw, from a story perspective, is more slept on than beds and had a ton of development work put in after release. After the vigor and creativity of these most recent games - utterly perfect applications of talent to genre - it's reasonable to look for the best Star Wars in videogames first.
(CW)TB out.
