I just couldn't look away from Silent Hill: Ascension apparently. Part of it may be that I keep typing it as Silent Hill: Ascencion, which I feel adds a little excitement. But also because the developer has already had to disable chat because they don't have a robust system for policing it. Apparently their chat was incredibly horny and racist simultaneously, too horny and racist to continue, so now chat consists exclusively (I believe) of stickers you purchase from them.
This new Silent Hill is sort of a streamed show, but it doesn't run on Twitch - it's in their own custom thingy which isn't ready to curtail the strange creatures this "digital experience" has attracted. Hopefully they can get their heads around that because this thing still goes for eight more months! I can see the thing they intended somewhere in the web client, a lot of thinking clearly went into it; Ascension is clearly a "platform" and I can see it running alongside a more mainstream season of a show like The Walking Dead, supporting it. Influence Points as a resource you expend on the community votes is interesting, but too many of the opportunities to get them are themselves gated behind purchases. Which means money is gonna decide most of it, which, you know, makes sense.
If you have been disappointed in November so far and would like a return to October's terrors, I've got great news. One: our official D&D Monster Tees, themed after horror movie posters and shepherded through the creative process by our own Dabe Alan, are available for purchase all year in a variety of styles and executions. But if you are looking for a breed of horror you can put right into your eye-holes, I suggest you sample our Acquisitions Incorporated: Call of Cthulhu Game we did for Chaosium. It features Kris Straub as The Keeper, Ryan Hartman, Myself, and special ultra mega-guest Erika Ishii... with a rich and full-throated performance from Laura, which I know in at least three cases had people looking her up online, as if to say "Who is this, I need more." She also put together this video for you! She's the best essentially, and the bizarre fruit of that eldritch labor can be found right here:
