The main thing I know about The First Descendant - although I do occasionally get the name wrong - is that there is a woman who is also a rabbit and occasionally a robot. She is a dangerous robot rabbit ("robbit") woman and it seems like her cyber-bikini is very tight. Purely as an aesthetic matter, I think it's okay to represent sensuality. I was under the impression broadly that it was naughty to do so, because this is what I am constantly being told. What I've learned is that if someone thinks I would like something it's a foul index of my ethical substrate but if they like it then legitimately grotesque leering constitutes a liberatory project. The first half is what I learned at church, so I'm already dialed in.
I don't necessarily need that in my entertainment media, but I'm not quite at Gabe levels, where flesh holds no fascination and cold cylinders provide erotic thrills. I would say I'm somewhere in the "human range" when it comes to titillation. If I feel like someone is trying to manipulate me with it, I resent it. But I also feel second-hand discomfort when I see what looks to be very taut fabric in what has traditionally be considered a "sensitive region."
I asked Gabe what he thought of the game, and he responded with the text in the first panel. Then I went to check the reviews on Steam, but I couldn't find it at first. When I did, I was looking at the space left on the SSD, and then at the install size, and then back. Currently, that's the state I'm in: flung between these two poles. Maybe it will resolve itself this weekend. Anyway, that's the strip.
It looks seriously fucking cool. It also looks very expensive! Trailer like this don't cost a hundred bucks. I'm afraid of free games right now, but man. It's one of the few things from the Sommargaemenfëscht that even made a dent in my consciousness:
It's from Nexon, who (being founded in 1994) has traversed virtually every genre. I played a ton of Shattered Galaxy, back in the day! It was a whacked out era where everybody was trying to make things with MMO in the title and it presaged everything about how modern gaming works. Somehow, they survived this era.
I was looking over the roadmap, and it tried to tempt me with an Exclusive Valby. I thought that might be a rare currency or cosmetic, but in the world of The First Descendant, a Valby is a sort of water person. Those of you who heretofore had the urge to become a valby but no proper channel toward Valbification - rise up! Your hour has come.
(CW)TB out.
